Ooh La Luxe! Brings Luxury Clothing Labels to Envy Salon

BAKERSFIELD, CA – Bringing just a little more style to the Rosedale area, Ooh La Luxe! fashion boutique opens its doors with celebrity-endorsed labels and a range of merchandise that includes cocktail dresses, tops, handbags, scarves and lounge wear.

Located inside Envy Salon on Flushing Quail Rd, the Ooh La Luxe! aesthetic focuses on fashion forward trends done in a tailored style. Ooh La Luxe! is the exclusive retailer of many of these labels, including Plastic Island, a Japanese brand with a strong European sense of design and tailoring. Kimberly Lawson, the owner of Ooh La Luxe!, started her clothing business online in May of 2008 and plans to continue her successful online shop, OohLaLuxe.com alongside the new brick and mortar location. Lawson is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, a school that is known for its recent stint on Project Runway and its high-profile alumni, including designer Monique Lhullier and MTV’s Lauren Conrad. “I couldn’t be more excited about bringing my eye for style and some of my favorite brands to Bakersfield,” Lawson says about her lifelong dream.

My first clothing items of the season came in earlier this week! The delivery was from Bryce & Bouji, the hot up and coming line I “discovered”.

The lace printed tape on the box was a nice touch.

Having this stuff arrive early in the shipment window was really a life saver. I have a photoshoot for DuJour fashion magazine today in my home, and if it hadn’t come in I wouldn’t have had much to wear or to show for fall, since Lauren Conrad won’t be shipping for a while.

I’m also doing a product shoot tomorrow for the first half of the fall merchandise. Very busy weekend, indeed!

Here’s a little behind the scenes sneak peak at the DuJour shoot. All the new Bryce & Bouji, Voom and Vava stuff is on the rack in back. The model is wearing the Byce & Bouji Chiffon Dress, which was a last minute choice but I’ve quickly fallen in love with it, especially the way I styled it. That clutch is from our Onna Ehrlich merchandise, in addition to a pair of Jessica Simpson shoes and a $10 belt that looks like it cost five times that much!

Okay, I’m off to get my make up done. Hopefully this shoot comes out just right!

Last week I got the exact news I was hoping not to get!

For those of you who have been reading this blog for a while, you probably (hopefully?) remember me going on and on about this new line Bryce & Bouji that I have coming in for the fall. I’ve been hyping it up quite a bit and the pieces I ordered from them were some of my absolute favorites that I’ve come across so far. Well at the end of last week I get an email telling me that they’re about to ship….yay! Then I ask if the fifth piece I ordered went into production or not (it was up in the air because the sales reps said other buyers werent responding well to it). It turns out that THREE out of the five pieces I ordered were not produced!

THREE.

That’s over half my order! And they were pieces I was just dying to try on. Sigh. Can I just rant for a second here? I don’t get what’s wrong with the other buyers. They have the weirdest taste when it comes to this line. Pretty much all the peices I absolutely loved, they didn’t, and the pieces that did well with the other buyers were hit or miss if you ask me.

I can’t complain too much though, the two strongest pieces are still coming through and I was able to exchange the two items. But there’s some very lucky size 00 showroom rep who’s rockin’ those samples.

One more good thing…the peices are coming in a couple of days ahead of scheduele, which has been a life saver, so be sure to check back for pics later this week.

Celeb Sighting!

I love it when celebs wear stuff I’ve purchased! Here’s Hilary Duff, from a couple of days ago, wearing the the Deep Teal Love Quotes scarf. This was a color that I was on the fence about but she totally makes it work. Love the leather pants too.

I did a new and pretty comprehensive interview with the fabulous Letitia for the next issue of DuJour Magazine Check it out ahead of time at her blog Becoming Jane. This is the best interview I’ve done as of yet; she asked a lot of really good questions. And for all of you who are interested in styling and starting a fashion line, in addition to being a buyer, you’ll enjoy her entire blog.

Waiting On New Merchandise
Right now I’m impatiently waiting on the rest of my fall merchandise. I have three big shipments that are due either at the beginning of October or mid October; I wish I knew which! But in the mean time I’m getting some great ideas for styling my shoots. I’m planning to REALLY step up the styling game this time around. There are just SO many hot shoes to choose from this season, as well as statement jewelry; I can’t wait to play around with the accessories.

This is sort of a landmark for me because it’s the first time a piece from the store has gotten celebrity press! Very exciting, especially since I just bought this piece on Saturday. I knew paying way too much attention to celebs would pay off! Kim Kardashian wore the Voom by Joy Han Chic Dress to the premiere of the Cheetah Girls movie on Wednesday night. I really love the way this dress looks on her.

Kim Kardashian went on a Voom shopping spree where she picked up two of our hottest pieces, the Denim Pinstripe Babydoll and the Chic Dress, which is a brand new holiday piece (it’s slated to ship in about a month, but if anyone is interested in it now, I can probably bump up the ship date). Kim looks amazing in these dresses, and she bought both pieces so don’t be surprised if you see photos of her wearing either dress out on the town!

I’m so glad to FINALLY get these pieces up! I’ve had them both for quite a while but I had to reshoot them for various reasons.  They’re actually two of my favorite pieces for Spring/Summer.  Take a look:

Jae Basilio Cameron Dress

This dress is just too cute.  It’s very simple, but it works.  It’s a short, shift style dress that just skims the body and hangs perfectly; it’s not body conscious so it’s flattering on just about every figure. The dress is made of a very light weight cashmere fabric; it’s definitely cool enough to wear during the summer.  It’s inspired by this Chanel dress worn by Cameron Diaz (Lindsay Lohan wore it too):

The dress also comes in all black in size large.

Jae Basilio Janelle Dress 

Royal blue is a great color for summer, and it’s going to be HUGE in the fall (trust me, I know!).  On top of that, Grecian style draping is big trend as well, so you can’t really go wrong with the Jae Basilio Janelle Dress.  I’ve seen a lot of dresses with side draping like this, but none in a tube style dress or in such a vibrant color.

Be sure to check both of these items and snag one or both of them for yourself.  Chances are, no one else will have them since Jae Basilio is such a hot up and coming brand!
